Her husband was a typical K-fed... Stay out with his "boyz" and then cuss (F-bombs) out his wife for not coming home from Church on time. Yep, he, not the wife studying with the JWs, is the good guy here. She is "brainwashed" and doing the wrong thing.. Only in JWD land..

Did anyone see True Life on MTV about interfaith relationships?
by megsmomma ini just watched it and there was a non baptised jw on there.
she had apparently left and married a luthern....but than felt that only jw's were the true religion and was seemingly torn between going back or not.
it is so sad and her husband realized she was being brainwashed, which she (of course) denied.

History channel Show Paradise lost
by seek2find ini saw similarities between the peoples temple and life as a witness.
one was when the siren would go off and the announcement would be for everyone to gather at the pavillion.
that was kind of like when we are suppose to have a special announcement.

Hi geniuses, you are forgetting the Haszard inspired argumentation, which simply states:
Jonestown= many minorities
WT= many minorities
WT= Jonestown.
It is called logic people. Now excuse me, I am going to go "spiritually shoot my brother on a spiritual airport tarmac"....

Only the context of Hebrews makes the latter explanation slightly more likely (cf. the vocative kurie, "o Lord" in v. 10), although not necessary.
I had never thought of the above before, I always took vs. 9 (that is why God, your God) as making the Orthodox translation of vs. 8, slightly less likely.

New Testament support for the name Yahweh?
by WhatSexRU inexcuse me if this has been discussed before but im looking for evidence that any of the nt authors knew that the name yahweh (yahveh, jehovah, yhwh, or any variation) existed.
im testing a naive hypothesis that says that the nt authors were reading from the lxx and that they only saw kurios.
keep in mind im a complete novice and a (friendly) dangerous idiot.

. Hello Moggy Lover,
"Dated as having been written about 1000 BC it contains Lev 26:2-16 the present writer observed this manuscript on display at the University of Pennyslvania Museum in 1965where it was featured along with other Dead Sea Scroll materials. A statement appended to the fragment read: ' This fragment is now the oldest copy of the LXX.' This portion of Leviticus contains two verses in which the MT has the Divine Name in Tetragram form, in neither instance did YHWH appear. The copyist maintained his usage of the Greek throughout"
As you can see, that last sentence is crucial, and I assume Countess implied that the copyist maintained the Greek usage of "Kurios" throughout.
I had assumed Countess was your source, but I do not think he implies "kurios" instead of YHWH, if he did mean to imply that, he is incorrect, as the spaces where YHWH would have appeared were left blank. His quote seems ambiguous. But either way..
Respectfully.

There is at least one other fragment of an LXX MS - found among the Dead Sea Scrolls, catalogued as 4Q LXX Lev [a] which in fact does not contain the Hebrew name. It uses "Kurios". Also dated to the 1CAD it may be older than the Fouad 266, by at least a generation.
Just for my own clarification, can you document that "kurios" is used in 4Q LXX Lev(A)? I had thought blank spaces were left where the tetra appeared in the Hebrew , not "kurios". I could be wrong.
Narkissos, I will look for the reference from Tov, if my memory serves me correct it was in his The Greek Minor Prophets Scroll from Navar Hever. I believe he challenges Pietersma's assertion based on the dative. But I should be more careful citing him till I read his comments again...

This is an exaggeration. Most scholars do not in fact recognize this. One scholar, Prof George Howard did, back in 1977 write an article for the Journal of Biblical Literature where he suggested that the NT writers may have had access to LXX MSS which contained the Divine Name, however, whether they then actually wrote the Tetragammaton down was not proved. He admitted his idea was only a "theory" and subject to scholarly debate.
Not to get into another one of these debates, but your comment here really is an exaggeration. You can add heavyweight Emanuel Tov- and you can add Dr. Trobisch into the LXX originally containing the Tetra camp. Trobisch believing YHWH was in the NT "canonical edition" (as he calls it) as well. I believe this, IMO, is one of those controversial issues that JWs will eventually be exonerated on.

You realize Eduardo, that Michigan viewed this as a pointless consolation game and only gave 1/2 effort right? They should have been playing Oho State, and they knew it. The BCS is terrible, play that game again as a first round playoff game (that implies a new motivation for both teams) and Michigan comes out on top. Do I sound bitter? :>)

The WT to my knowldege has not responded to his book, there is nothing new in his book anyhow. I know of a few individual Witnesses have in the essay book"Your Word is Truth" by Anthony Byatt, Greg Stafford has in both his 3 dissertations and JWDII. The worst response was from former JW apologist Heinz Schmitz, who just whined the entire time in his reply about Lynn's motive. I have read Lynn's book and have found him very polite and respectful in his tone,and he has been nice enough to answer a few of my questions. He is one of the few Evangelical based apologists, unlike Robert Morey and Ron Rhodes, that are not legally retarded.
I recommend Dr. Trobisch's book, which you can find here: http://www.amazon.com/First-New-Testament-David-Trobisch/dp/0195112407/ref=pd_sim_b_2/105-4919907-7655660
